Education: St. Mary's College of California
Abstract: Throughout my life I have had to break many barriers that were set by my community and race. However, I have not fallen into the same bad influences many people around my age have. My parents came here as immigrants in search of a new life and before they knew it they started a family. On July 13, 1986 I was born and I was named Angelberto Cortez Jr.
I grew up in a small Latino community and attended pre-school, middle-school, and junior high with mostly Latinos. My parents decided to make a choice and send me to a private high school instead of the average public school. Thanks to them, I learned many new things and was able to become part of a diverse community.
I soon attended college at Saint Mary’s College of California where I am now majoring in Psychology. I plan to continue on to Graduate School and maybe one day Medical school. With these accomplishments I plan to set tracks for those in my family who wish to do the same and follow my example. I serve as the role model for everyone and show them that there is hope in doing something in life and that they must not give up if they want to accomplish something great in life.
