Abstract: Felicia Cruz Fuentes grew up in Ripon, California. She is of Hispanic descent, and is a quarter Native American. Her family emigrated from Jalisco, Mexico and has been in the United States for three generations. None of her family has attended college. Her parents are divorced, so she moved from periodically from her father's house to her mother's.
Her father has worked his way up in the business world and now is a very successful insurance broker. Her mother moves around a lot, cannot hold a stable job, and Felicia has not seen her for there years. Her father Daniel married Cathy, whom she now calls mother.
Since her parents have been very successful, she had the opportunity to switch from Ripon High School, which was a public school, to Central Catholic High School, which was a preparatory school. This helped Felicia prepare for college, and got her on the right track.
Her father has been there for her for everything she has needed, and Daniel and Cathy have 100% supported her. When she applied to St. Mary's College of California and was admitted, her entire family was ecstatic. She is the first person to attend college in her family. She is currently in her second semester of her freshman year at St. Mary's and is a business major, thanks to her mother Cathy who is a successful mortgage broker.
She realizes that she has been given a great opportunity to attend college, and is very dedicated to her studies, because she knows that she has to succeed in college for herself and her family.
